Ketevan Tsikhelashvili – Many people become victims of barbed wires policy

“The release of Maia Otinashvili, detained by the occupational regime, was the main objective of 24-hour work regime,” Ketevan Tsikhelashvili, State Minister for Reconciliation and Civil Equity stated in the family of the released Georgian woman whom she visited together with Tamta Goguadze, a representative of Analytic Department of State Security Service.

According to Tsikhelashvili, Office of State Minister and relevant structures mobilized all the available mechanisms in reaction to ‘any similar illegal move and injustice.’ She said that the government’s efforts were directed towards the prevention of occurrence of such facts.

“Many people residing on the occupied territory become victims of the so-called barbed wires policy. These people want and need free movement across the rest of Georgia. This is a measure targeted against people,” Tsikhelashvili said.

Maia Otinashvili, a 37-year-old Georgian woman, who was detained by the occupational regime near the village Khurvaleti, Gori Municipality of Shida Kartli region on September 29, has been released from imprisonment. Otinashvili was handed over to the Georgian side at Ergneti checkpoint earlier this afternoon together with another Georgian detainee Akaki Dotiashvili.
