Justice Minister meets Commissioner of New York Department of Probation

Rati Bregadze, Georgian Justice Minister met Juanita N. Holmes, Commissioner of the New York City Department of Probation, within the framework of his official visit to the United States.

At the meeting, the Minister spoke about the reforms and innovations, which the Georgian Ministry implements in the prevention of crime and probation. He reviewed rehabilitation programs and accentuated the significance of opening mediation spaces and referring centres for juveniles in the regions.

Rati Bregadze stressed that sharing the best practices was one of the strategic priorities of the Justice Ministry’s 10-year development plan. He pledged readiness for experience-sharing and thanked the host side for prolific cooperation.

Deputy Georgian Justice Minister Beka Dzamashvili, Head of the Special Penitentiary Service Nika Tskhvarashvili, and Georgia’s General Consul in New York, Maia Bartaia, attended the meeting.
