Judge Levan Tevzadze responded on a social network to a statement made by Judge Sergo Metofishvili of the Tbilisi City Court regarding the dangers of vetting and the lack of collegiality among nine judges supporting this system.
Tevzadze highlighted a case from Ukraine where the chairman of the Supreme Court, selected through the vetting system conducted by Nona Tsotsoria, the former deputy of Zurab Adeishvili (Georgia’s wanted former Prosecutor General), was arrested for accepting a large bribe.
He added that this incident raises concerns about the effectiveness and integrity of the vetting process.
