“Sancton are absolutely ungrounded. Regarding me, it is written that they have rational suspicion. How is it possible to sanction anybody based on rational suspicion? This is politics, in fact,” said Levan Murusidze, Judge of the Court of Appeals and a member of the High Council of Justice (HCoJ).
According to Murisidze, the actual purpose of sanctions is the wish to seize the court.
“The court has been attacked for years, They are trying to impose mechanisms in the court system to rule politics in the country afterwards. It is impossible to say that Murusidze is sanctioned on rational suspicion. They may say that Levan Murusidze had some interest in a specific case or material benefit for me to respond. I even do not get interested in or give a reaction, I am calm.
I know that the actual reason is not someone’s concern about corruption but the seizure of the court authorities. They are interested in this due to global politics, there is the Ukraine-Russia war, Georgia is a neighbour in the region, and there are processes. They need the court to declare elections null and void when they need it as in Romania.
This is understandable. I am confident that the court will stay firm. These sanctions will not have an impact. The more pressure on the court system, the more stronger the court will be,” Murusidze stated.
