Judge Dimitri Gvritishvili slams sanctions as ungrounded

“Sanctions are baseless, this is a political decision,” said Judge Dimitri Gvritishvili.

According to Gvritishvili, sanctions against judges and their family members are unacceptable.

“Sanctions are ungrounded. Regrettably, this is a political decision dictated by a certain political agenda. For some circles, be it the European Union or elsewhere and even in strategically partner countries, there are forces for whom the course of our country’s government may be unacceptable or some may disapprove of the court decision.

However, imposing sanctions against judges or their family members is therefore inadmissible. It is absolutely unjustified and unfair, it exceeds all limits to extend sanctions to family members of judges.
