It is essential for Georgia to have a strong port – said Ivan Scalfarotto, Italian Under-Secretary of State at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation.
“Italy has an 8000-kilometres-long coastline, and we know it well how important access to the sea is. Transportation of more cargo is possible via the sea. Having a strong port is essential for Georgia. It will better and easily connect Asia with Europe through the Black Sea,” Scalfarotto said.
Scalfarotto, who is attending Tbilisi Silk Road Forum, claimed that investments were also important in railway and roads.
