PM tags new port in Poti as an extremely important project for the region

As of today, the total investment is 93 million US dollars, which will increase to 120 million dollars after the completion of both phases, Georgian Prime Minister Irakli Gharibashvili said in his speech at the opening ceremony of a new port in Poti.

The head of the government noted that large-scale construction of a new port in Poti was launched by the PACE company in 2020, which is an extremely important project for the region.

“It is a great honor for me to be here, at the Black Sea Gate of Georgia, in Poti and to speak to you. Today is a truly glorious day! Congratulations to the PACE company, each of its employees for the successful implementation of such a large-scale project!

As you know, large-scale construction of a new port in Poti was launched in 2020, which is a very important project for the region. As of today, the total investment is 93 million US dollars, which will increase to 120 million dollars after the completion of both phases.

I wasn’t to underline the involvement of the partner, the United States in the project. In particular, the U.S. International Development Finance Corporation (DFC) allocated USD 50 million, which is another indication that Georgia is an attractive country for foreign investment and represents a country with the largest transit and transport potential,” PM said.

The official opening ceremony of a new port took place in Poti town of the western Samegrelo region on Saturday.
