Italian Ambassador: There are a need and a chance for compromise
“I hope everyone will be able to understand that there is a need for compromise, and there is a chance for that,” said Italian Ambassador to Georgia Enrico Valvo.
According to the Ambassador, the proposals made by Christian Danielsson, a personal envoy of the European Council President, should be taken seriously by all parties.
“I hope everyone will be able to understand that there is a need for compromise, and there is a chance for that. It is a message for all side, and hopefully, everyone will realize this. We have a good basis due to the suggestions made by Christian Danielsson. I think these proposals should be reflected and should be taken seriously by all parties,” the Ambassador said.
Georgian opposition parties that won seats in the Georgian Parliament of the 10th Convocation believe the 2020 parliamentary elections were a fraud. They have been demanding repeat parliamentary elections and the release of the United National Movement Chair, Nika Melia, and the co-founder of the TV channel Mtavari Arkhi Giorgi Rurua.
The second EU-mediated attempt to solve political crises in Georgia failed earlier this week. EU mediator Christian Danielsson said he proposed a solution that puts the country’s interest first to the parties, but none of the political actors agreed on the solution.
