The International Republican Institute (IRI) published the 2023 National Public Opinion Survey of Georgian Residents.
The survey showed that the vast majority of Georgians support joining the European Union. Eighty-six per cent of respondents answered they fully or somewhat support Georgia’s EU membership.
The survey revealed that Georgian citizens are against Russian citizens’ presence in Georgia, with 79% responding that they do not support Russians’ buying real property, business registration and visa-free stay in the country.
Also, based on the survey, Georgian citizens demonstrate low trust in political parties, 42% of those interviewed said that none of the political parties represent their interests, and 78% want to see more youth in Georgian politics.
The Institute of Polling & Marketing (IPM) carried out the fieldwork. The data was collected throughout Georgia between March 4 and 23, 2023, through CAPI-administered face-to-face interviews in respondents’ homes. The representative sample comprised 1,500 permanent residents of Georgia aged 18 and older and eligible to vote. The response rate was 63 per cent. The margin of error does not exceed ±2.5%.
