Irakli Kobakhidze: So-called elections in occupied Tskhinvali region are false and a continuation of what is called occupation
The so-called elections in occupied Tskhinvali region are false and a continuation of what is called occupation, – Speaker of the Parliament Irakli Kobakhidze made this statement.
“We know that the Russian Federation exercises full control over the occupied Tskhinvali, as well as in occupied Abkhazia. Consequently, such so-called elections are false and a continuation of what is called occupation. We cannot attach importance to such elections”, – Irakli Kobakhidze said.
The so-called parliamentary elections are being conducted in occupied Tskhinvali region/South Ossetia. The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Georgia assesses it as a violation of the sovereignty and territorial integrity of Georgia. According to the statement released by the Ministry, “any so-called elections held in the occupied territories are illegal and cannot have any legal effect, as they are in contradiction with the fundamental norms and principles of international law”.
