Irakli Kobakhidze: Shamba acknowledged what we've been talking about for past decades
Parliament Speaker Irakli Kobakhidze believes that the former de-facto Prime Minister of occupied Abkhazia, Sergei Shamba, in his latest statements admits what official Tbilisi has been saying over the past decades. Irakli Kobakhidze focuses on the independence of the Abkhaz people.
“We heard interesting phrases, including, Shamba acknowledged what we have been talking about for so many years. In particular, it is about history. You know what the quality of independence is now and, accordingly, what the quality of independence was. What we have been proving during the decades Shamba has practically admitted it. This is very noteworthy and interesting, ” – said the Speaker of the Parliament.
Kobakhidze says that the approach of the central authorities of Georgia towards the occupied territories is peaceful and steps are being taken in this direction.
“We are focused to maximize confidence building between Georgians and Abkhazians. However, there are artificial barriers and these barriers are created by the Russian Federation, which complicates this process. We will be principled in this policy, we have approved the peace initiative, further steps will be taken and our desire is to promote rapprochement of relations between citizens as much as possible,” – Irakli Kobakhidze said.
“If the situation is not improved, we will have to kneel and ask Georgia or Russia to accept us as a part of their territory, ” – Sergei Shamba, the former de-facto Prime Minister of occupied Abkhazia, made this statement during the meeting of opposition bloc.
