Irakli Kobakhidze on Kordz concert cancellation: PM labels EU-backed concert cancellation ‘unbelievable case of funded fascism’

“The most regrettable aspect of all this is that this specific concert, this event, was being funded by the European Union and the Danish Cultural Institute. When a cultural centre finances incivility, and beyond incivility, finances fascism, this is, of course, an absolutely unimaginable occurrence,” stated Prime Minister Irakli Kobakhidze in response to a journalist’s question regarding the cancellation of the Kordz concert.

According to him, this constitutes an act that encourages liberal fascism, which is a tragic development.

“These are precisely the methods Ms Gigauri was speaking of—Soviet methods. The European bureaucracy is now acting using such Soviet methods, which is truly appalling and unimaginable, when you organise a concert for someone who encourages fascism. This is, of course, a political act, and it is genuinely an act that encourages fascism, that encourages liberal fascism, which is a tragic occurrence.

I hope that processes within the European bureaucracy will take a different path and that over the coming years, the European bureaucracy will entirely overhaul its methods—these Soviet methods,” the Prime Minister noted.
