Georgian Dream rules out naming its presidential candidate. As Speaker of the Parliament Irakli Kobakhidze stated, this position has already been fixed and it remains unchanged.

According to him, Georgian Dream is waiting for September 8, when all candidates will be nominated.

“We are waiting until the 8th of September, after which we will make a final decision regarding the presidential elections. We could nominate an independent candidate, but it would be an artificial interference in the process and thus it would be wrong. So, we are waiting for the development of processes, and for the 8th of September. After this we will make a decision,” – Kobakhidze said.

Speaker of the Parliament is convinced that the candidate supported by the ruling team will win elections.

“Our support is +/- 50% and this was proved in the self-government and parliamentary elections. A real chance that the elections will end in the first round exits, but there is also a chance for the second round. Finally, the candidate supported by us will definitely win this election”, – he stated.

Irakli Kobakhidze rules out the victory of opposition.

“The opposition has no real chance. I do not expect a significant difference from the previous elections, therefore, the opposition parties do not have a chance to get more than 15-20% in the first round”, – said Kobakhidze.

The presidential elections will be held in Georgia on October 28.
