The State Security Service of Georgia (SSSG) has issued a statement regarding the death of its employee.

According to the SSSG, an employee of the Anti-Corruption Agency was found dead in his car, having sustained a gunshot wound.

The State Security Service confirms that an investigation is underway to establish the circumstances surrounding the incident.

“This individual was a highly experienced and valued member of the Anti-Corruption Agency, deeply respected by all. A few months ago, he underwent bariatric surgery abroad, lost several stone in weight, and subsequently experienced some health issues. We understand that he arrived at work early that morning based on the information provided by colleagues. It appears he took a weapon and left the work area. He was subsequently discovered dead in his car, having sustained a gunshot wound. He left a letter on the seat beside him. These are initial details available to us at this stage. Further information will emerge as the investigation progresses,” the SSSG stated.

The Investigation Department of the Tbilisi Prosecutor’s Office has launched a probe into the death of an employee of the Anti-Corruption Agency, operating under Article 115 of the Criminal Code.
