Investigation Service detains two individuals for large-scale illicit storage and transport of no-excise alcohol

Following targeted operational and investigative measures, the Investigation Service of the Ministry of Finance of Georgia has detained two individuals accused of unlawfully storing and transporting a significant quantity of alcoholic products without excise stamps.

According to the agency, the investigation uncovered that the suspects, seeking financial gain, illicitly stored and transported various brands of alcohol subject to mandatory excise duty, namely “BELUGA”, “GREY GOOSE”, “NEFT”, “ABSOLUT”, “Snezhni Bars”, and “SVEDSKAY,” with an estimated value exceeding 140,000 GEL.

“The Investigation Service has detained the suspects for the illegal storage and transportation of non-excise products. At this stage, further investigative actions are ongoing to identify and apprehend other individuals who may have been involved in the crime.

The case is being pursued under Article 200, Part 2, Subparagraph ‘c’, and Part 3 of the Criminal Code of Georgia, which stipulates a prison sentence of six to eight years,” the investigative service of the Ministry of Finance states.
