Investigation Service arrests individual for selling expired products

Following diligent operational and investigative efforts, officers from the Investigation Service of the Ministry of Finance of Georgia have apprehended a Georgian national for selling goods that pose a risk to life and health.

“The investigation revealed that the suspect had purchased various branded expired products in 2025-2026, intended for use as animal feed. The individual, using a homemade seal, altered the expiry dates of these products and sold them from his own yard in the village of Kvemo Gurgeniani, Lagodekhi Municipality.

As part of the planned investigative operations, branded expired products were purchased from the suspect.

During a search, authorities uncovered a substantial quantity of expired branded products of various types, a homemade seal for altering expiry dates, and cash obtained from the sale of these expired goods, all seized from the suspect’s warehouse and vehicle parked in his yard,” the investigative service stated.

The case is being prosecuted under Article 198, Part 1 of Georgia’s Criminal Code.

“The Investigation Service of the Ministry of Finance continues to carry out active investigative measures to identify and remove expired products that pose a threat to life and health,” the agency added.
