Installation of video cameras on internal and external perimeter of schools will be compulsory
The installation of video cameras on internal and external perimeter of will be compulsory for ensuring schools’ safety – the draft amendments to the Law on General Education envisage.
The Ministry of Internal Affairs and the Ministry of Education and Science will discuss the reform of the School Resource Officers Office.
According to the amendment, cameras will cover the whole territory of the school and the outer perimeter.
According to MIA the draft of reforming the School Resource Officers Office in Georgia will be submitted to the Parliament in the nearest future.
“The school equipping process will gradually be held in all schools of Georgia. In schools, where the cameras are already installed, their coverage area will be checked and if necessary, the number of video cameras will be increased. Office of Resource Officers will administrate the video cameras;
Coordination between the Ministry of Education and Science and the Ministry of Internal Affairs will further increase. In particular, the two ministries will exchange information about the offenses in order to identify the risk-groups in schools in the early stages and to prevent crime outside the schools,” – the Internal Affairs Ministry explains.
