Giorgi Chighladze, a Georgian citizen detained in the Telavi Hotel incident, has been released on bail for 5 000 GEL.

Telavi Regional Court Judge Tamar Kapanadze announced the decision and released the individual from the courtroom. Chigladze’s lawyer, Lasha Kapanadze, said the Hotel Administration expressed readiness to pay the bail.

The lawyer thanked Georgian society and reporters involved in the fact. The Prosecutor Beka Natelauri said that law enforcers would react to an administrative or criminal offence if revealed during the investigation on the part of Russian tourists.

On July 19, officers of the Kakheti Police Department under Georgia’s Ministry of Internal Affairs arrested one person on charges of intentionally causing minor bodily injury, the ministry said.

According to the Interior Ministry, witness statements indicate that the incident occurred during a wedding at a hotel in Telavi. Foreign nationals staying at the hotel allegedly insulted wedding guests from the balcony of their room and poured water onto the event’s audio equipment. Following the incident, the suspect allegedly physically assaulted a female foreign national.
