Ilia Topuria claims UFC lightweight championship by defeating Alexander Volkanovski

Ilia Topuria has become the new UFC lightweight champion by defeating Australian Alexander Volkanovski in a championship bout. The first round of the match was tense and evenly matched, with both fighters being cautious. However, in the second round, Topuria increased his pace and secured victory by knocking out Volkanovski midway through the round.

This victory marks Ilia Topuria’s 15th consecutive win in MMA, maintaining an undefeated record in his career. On the other hand, Volkanovski had previously defended the championship belt five times.

Following the fight, Topuria issued a challenge to Conor McGregor.
