Health Minister holds discussions with MPs on verification of socially vulnerable families database

According to the Ministry of Internally Displaced Persons from the Occupied Territories, Labour, Health and Social Protection, the process of verifying the database of socially vulnerable families is currently underway to ensure the social assistance system is as targeted and effective as possible.

The ministry reports that, in this regard, Minister of Health Mikheil Sarjveladze, alongside his deputies, provided detailed information to members of parliament. The parties discussed ways to conduct the verification process objectively and efficiently.

Mikheil Sarjveladze emphasised that the primary objective of the ministry is to ensure that only those families truly in need of state support are included in the database.

“According to 2026 data, a total of 400,000 families are registered in the database. However, the existing data does not fully reflect the real socio-economic circumstances of citizens, as there has been no systematic or regular verification of the registered individuals for years. As a result of an analysis carried out by the Social Service Agency, it was revealed that the database contains thousands of individuals with high incomes. There have been cases where social assistance has been granted to persons who, in fact, no longer require state support,” the Ministry of Health states.
