Head of Diseases Control Center – Flu season lasts till April

The 312 new cases of flu have been detected in 100 thousand people for the last three weeks of December – Amiran Gamkrelidze, Head of the National Diseases Control Center and Public Health reported.

According to Gamkrelidze, the index of hospitalization is relatively law this year in comparison to 2018. He said that the index of hospitalization with acute respiratory infections was 19% unlike 40% as in 2018.

“About 8 types of virus circulate this year in the country out of them “A” and “B” types are of flu viruses. “B” type of virus is characterized with fairly light conditions and proceeding in comparison to “B” type. “B” type circulates in about 77% of cases. The flu season lasts till April and the ratio may change in the next 3 months,” Gamkrelidze claimed.
