Grape Harvest Coordination Centre: Heavy rains curtail optimal period for grape collection

As of 13 October, 283 thousand tonnes have been processed in the eastern Kakheti region during the 2025 vintage season.

According to Aleksandre Koberidze, Deputy Head of the Grape Harvest Coordination Centre, the total amount of grapes harvested in 2025 has increased by 30 per cent compared to the previous year.

Koberidze explained that recent heavy rains have shortened the ideal window for grape collection, causing an increase in truck traffic at wine processing facilities.

“Simultaneously, delivering grapes to wineries involves a registration process and specific technological procedures, which naturally take some time. Additionally, all wineries operate with a daily grape processing capacity,” he noted.

He urged local residents to coordinate with their village representatives to identify the appropriate wine plant for grape delivery.

“Based on this information, village representatives will issue notices to growers about the capacity of each winery, along with a designated time to help minimise queues. The Grape Harvest Coordination Unit is fully mobilised, and not a single kilogram will be left unhandled,” he assured.
