GPB to premiere Junkers in September

The Georgian Public Broadcaster (GPB) will premiere a five-part historical feature drama Junkers in September.

The GPB produces the project together with Shvidkatsa Plus creative team. Director Gia Barabadze is the co-scenarist of the film together with writer Kote Jandieri. The film is about the last days of the First Democratic Republic of Georgia in February of 1921.

The shooting is already in full-swing. Its production will complete in April.

GPB Director General Tinatin Berdzenishvili said that the topic is painful for everyone.

“This project, film, TV-series, I believe, is the most convenient form today to talk about history, politics, culture, art. It will be on soon. We have a tight schedule. It is a long-term project and we have been talking about it for several years. I am glad that we reached the shooting process. Our viewers will have the opportunity to watch the premiere this autumn. The topic is painful and acute for everyone reflecting not only our country’s history but the present reality as well,” she said.

According to Gia Barabadze, working on the project is hard but interesting.

“It is hard when you deal with the year 1921. Tbilisi has changed much. It is difficult to create those years, but it is a very interesting process,” he said.
