GPB to host 18th EBU News Assembly in 2023

On November 22-23, 2023, Georgian Public Broadcaster (GPB) will host the 18th EBU News Assembly. The EBU member countries picked Georgia as a host nation following a voting at the 17th News Assembly in Genève, Switzerland.

Tbilisi, Georgia’s capital, will welcome visitors from 56 European nations. The event will be attended by about 150 delegates.

The assembly will bring together news directors, editors-in-chief and foreign editors from across the EBU and share knowledge and discuss the big challenges facing journalism and public service media today.

As the EBU consists of 125 broadcasters from 56 nations, GPB Dir/Gen Tinatin Berdzenishvili says “there is always a big competition for hosting the main events.”

“News is paramount as informing the public is the primary goal of all public broadcasters. Georgia will host the News Assembly on November 22-23, 2023, which is definitely an honour. A large number of delegates from 56 countries, presenting the most verified, informed, constructive news platform, will arrive here,” she added.
