Gov't reports progress in Guria: 80% of roads cleared, electricity restored to 29,000 households

“Over 80% of municipal roads are cleared, and we have made significant progress in restoring electricity supply,” said Levan Zhorzholiani, Head of the Government Administration, while addressing reporters about the current situation in the snow-stricken Guria region of Georgia.

By the end of February 27, Zhorzholiani reported that electricity had been restored to approximately 29 of the 35 affected households, while gas supply had resumed for over half of the families in the area.

He further explained that the government was actively addressing multiple issues as directed by the Task Force, focusing on road clearing, electricity and gas supply restoration, as well as providing essential food and medicines to disaster-affected residents.

“We expect even better results by the end of today. We have accessed centres in many villages and established direct communication with locals to deliver food and medicines. Specific tasks have been assigned, and a comprehensive plan has been developed.

In terms of gas supply, 1,300 subscribers were initially disconnected, but more than half have now been restored. All available resources are mobilized, and we are operating effectively with established coordination and management,” he added.
