Gov't carries cleanup, preventive measures in storm-hit western towns

The cleaning efforts have recommenced, and precautionary measures have been implemented in the coastal towns of Poti, Batumi, and Kobuleti that were affected by the storm. Heavy equipment is dispatched to cleanse the areas of the decimated infrastructure and organize defensive barricades.

“The inflicted damage is minor in the population, which is important. However, we have significant damage to the city infrastructure. We will restore it in the coming days,” said Poti Mayor Beka Vacharadze.

A special commission is calculating the inflicted damage in the Adjara region. The head of the Adjara Government, Tornike Rizhvadze, pledged to assist entrepreneurs.

“We must support and assist all private individuals and entrepreneurs affected by the storm,” he said.

Yesterday’s storm in Batumi City and Kobuleti Resort destroyed commercial objects, lighting systems, the boulevard infrastructure and pavements.

The National Environment Agency reported worsening weather across Georgia on November 27-28.
