Government Administration: State enterprise reform focuses on cost optimization and profitability

“Our primary goal is for state enterprises to become profitable and contribute directly to the budget, which will also enhance our relations with international financial institutions,” stated Levan Zhorzholiani, Head of the Administration of the Government of Georgia.

He explained that the reform of state enterprises, announced today by the Prime Minister, involves a comprehensive approach that addresses multiple challenges through cost optimization and structural improvements.

“This process has already begun in several enterprises, including Georgian Railways and various state-owned energy companies. As a result of the optimization, over GEL 52 million has been saved, which is a significant achievement. The reform also includes complex measures related to the composition of boards and management structures,” Zhorzholiani noted.

He emphasized that the ultimate aim is to transform state-owned enterprises into profitable entities that actively contribute to the national budget, thereby positively impacting Georgia’s relationship with international financial institutions.
