GNERC to investigate causes of large-scale electric power outage

The Georgian Energy and Water Regulatory Commission (GNERC) will investigate precise causes of last night’s large-scale electric power outage that affected the entire country.

The GNERC team has been granted unlimited access to enterprise data and relevant information, the Commission decided during the public meeting.

The Georgian State Electrosystem (GSE) confirmed that a nationwide emergency blackout occurred at approximately 00:10, triggering immediate recovery operations. Engineers worked through the night to restore power in phases before achieving complete restoration this morning.
