Givi Mikanadze hosts representatives of the British Embassy and the British Council
Givi Mikanadze, Georgia’s Minister of Education, Science and Youth, has met Kate Ewart-Biggs, Deputy Chief Executive of the British Council, and Charmian Leaver, Deputy Head of Mission at the British Embassy in Tbilisi.
According to the Ministry of Education’s press office, the two sides discussed existing co-operation between Georgia and the United Kingdom in education and science, and explored opportunities for future partnership.
“Givi Mikanadze underlined the important role of the British Council as a long-standing partner of the Ministry, focusing in particular on English-language teaching, teachers’ professional development, transnational education and the internationalisation of higher education.
The two sides welcomed the ongoing Future English project on teachers’ professional development, which helps to strengthen teachers’ professional skills and introduce modern teaching methods.
One of the main topics was co-operation in transnational education (TNE) and partnerships between higher education institutions in Georgia and the United Kingdom.
At the end of the meeting, both sides confirmed their readiness to continue their co-operation and to implement new joint initiatives in education and science,” the information released by the Ministry of Education’s press office states.
Christian Duncan, Deputy Director for Europe at the British Council, and Zaza Purtseladze, Director of the British Council in Georgia, also attended the meeting.
