Girchi: GD's persistence in saying someone wants to drag Georgia into war is part of pre-election campaign
“The Georgian Dream is persistent in saying that someone pushes Georgia to be dragged into a war, and if it does not win elections, Georgia would be in a war, and the country would see bombs in the sky instead of fireworks. It does so but cannot confirm who raises such demands,” said Vakhtang Megrelishvili, the Girchi party member.
According to Vakhtang Megrelishvili, GD’s statements serve the party’s pre-election campaigning interests.
“The GD believes that peace is very popular in Georgian society. Nobody wants war. Everybody agrees, but the problem is that they cannot name concrete individuals who force Georgia to be dragged into the war,” he said.
The Girchi member believes the ruling party wants to convince the voters that Georgia “faces catastrophe” if it loses elections.
As for remarks about the United National Movement at the pre-election campaign opening, Megrelishvili said: “Twelve years of a campaign that the United National Movement is the main enemy, and they want to keep it even in these elections. For 12 years, this configuration has maintained the status quo, and let’s change it so that neither of these two forces wins the majority,” he said.
