German State Secretary to visit Georgia

German State Secretary in the Federal Ministry for Economic Affairs and Climate Action, Sven Giegold, accompanied by a delegation of German private companies, will visit Georgia on May 7.

According to the German Embassy in Georgia, the State Secretary and the delegation members will hold meetings over economic policy and EU affairs at the Georgian Ministry of Economy and Sustainable Development and civic society organizations.

Georgia’s efforts to draw closer to the EU, ongoing reforms, Germany’s support, tourism, trade, investments and other issues will be reviewed at the meeting.

The delegation members will visit Georgian private companies and discuss joint projects as part of the effort to assist small and medium-sized companies in entering international markets.

The German Embassy said that Sven Giegold wants to express support for Georgia’s EU integration aspirations.

“Georgia should keep on the course and take swift steps to implement the agreed-upon reforms. Georgian society is ready for the European Union. Georgia is an important partner for us in the South Caucasus. We want to intensify bilateral economic relations. The German Federal government strengthens German companies and their activities in the region giving a positive impetus to the implementation of reforms in the EU integration process,” he said.
