German, Georgian presidents hold phone talk over ongoing development in Georgia

German President Frank-Walter Steinmeier and Georgian President Salome Zourabichvili exchanged views on the current situation in Georgia during a telephone conversation, German President’s press spokesperson Cerstin Gammelin wrote on X.

Gammelin said, “The German President condemned violence against pro-European demonstrators and expressed European solidarity with civil society.”

“The Georgian government is deviating from the European path which Georgia itself outlined in its constitution. Europe will take appropriate measures in its relations with the government, but remains open to the European hopes of the peaceful population,” Steinmeier told Zourabichvili according to Gammelin.
