German Ambassador says political repression, violence move Georgia away from EU

Political repression and violence move Georgia further away from the European Union, said German Ambassador to Georgia, Peter Fischer.

“Sad day in Georgia. Last weeks all spoke of love and peace at Christmas, a happy New Year and unity on Flag Day. Yet, political repression and violence are on the rise. This moves Georgia further and further away from the EU. It doesn’t have to be this way. It shouldn’t be this way,” he wrote on the X Platform.
