GeoStat: Inflation calculated using EU methodology reaches 4.2% in December 2025

Since 2022, the National Statistics Office of Georgia (GeoStat) has been publishing a new indicator: the Harmonised Index of Consumer Prices (HICP).

According to GeoStat, using this methodology, inflation in December 2025 stood at 4.2%, which is 0.2 percentage points higher than the 4.0% figure derived from the national methodology.

Breaking down the components, the EU HICP methodology indicates the following percentage changes compared to the same period in 2024:
Food and non-alcoholic beverages – 7.8%; Alcoholic beverages and tobacco – 4.2%; Clothing and footwear – 0.0%; Housing, water, electricity, gas, and other heating – -0.3%; Furniture, household goods, decoration, and home maintenance and repair – -1.2%; Health care – 7.2%; Transport – -0.4%; Communication – -3.3%; Recreation, entertainment, and culture – -0.5%; Education – 2.1%; Hotels, cafes, and restaurants – 6.4%; and Miscellaneous goods and services – 7.7%.
