GeoStat: In January–June 2026, number of both construction permits issued and facilities put into operation decreased

According to officially declared data of the National Statistics Service of Georgia (GeoStat), 5 391 permissions were granted in January-June of 2026 (0.6 percent less compared to the same period of the previous year) for construction of buildings with total area of 5 275.7 thousand square meters (1.7 percent more compared to the same period of the previous year).

According to the GeoStat, almost three-quarters of construction permits are issued in four regions, namely: 49.2 percent in Tbilisi, 9.2 percent in Kvemo Kartli region, 7.6 percent in Adjara A.R. and 7.3 percent in Kakheti region.

In January-June of 2026, permissions were granted for the construction of multifunctional residential complexes, trade facilities, hotels, industrial enterprises, objects for agricultural purposes, and other buildings.

The GeoStat said that 1 459 objects (5.3 percent less compared to the same period of the previous year) with total area of 1 546.2 thousand square meters (3.6 percent less compared to the same period of the previous year) were completed in January-June of 2026.

More than two-thirds of the completed constructions are distributed among four regions of the country, namely: 31.9 percent is located in Tbilisi, 15.1 percent – in Mtskheta-Mtianeti region, 12.1 percent – in Kakheti region and 10.0 percent – in Kvemo Kartli region.
