GeoStat: Georgian travellers spent 2.4 billion GEL abroad in 2025

According to the National Statistics Office (GeoStat), Georgian residents undertook 2.9 million trips abroad in 2025, representing a 2.8 per cent increase compared to the previous year. The largest proportion of travellers, 43.5 per cent, were aged between 31 and 50.

According to GeoStat, the total number of visits abroad by Georgian residents reached 2.2 million, a slight decrease of 0.1 per cent from 2024.

Furthermore, the agency’s report indicates that last year, Georgian residents undertook 1.5 million tourism-related visits abroad, making a 4.3 per cent increase from the previous year. The majority of these visits, 47.0 per cent, were undertaken by individuals aged 31 to 50, with women accounting for 46.4 per cent of all visits.

In 2025, the highest share of visits, 36.1 per cent, was made for the purpose of visiting friends or relatives. The most popular destinations remained Turkey and the Russian Federation, with 836,000 and 367,300 visits, respectively.

The average length of stay during visits in 2025 was 6.97 nights, a marginal decrease of 0.1 per cent from the previous year’s average of 6.98 nights. Repeat visits comprised 98.1 per cent of all trips.

Total expenditure during visits in 2025 amounted to 2.4 billion GEL, making a 5.9 per cent increase compared to the previous year. The average spending per visit rose by 6.0 per cent, reaching 1,068.6 GEL.
