Georgia’s PM: Deep State’s plot to stoke Russophobia using its local agents marks a new assault on Georgia and its people
“Georgia’s experience clearly demonstrates that radical anti-Russian sentiment is fabricated, a fact corroborated by concrete evidence,” stated Prime Minister Irakli Kobakhidze during a press briefing at the Government Administration.
According to the head of government, this entire phenomenon represents a scheme orchestrated by the Deep State to artificially inflame Russophobia by deploying its local network of agents.
“I believe the public must understand what lies behind the Deep State’s plot to stoke artificial Russophobia in Georgia through its local agents. The Georgian government has repeatedly highlighted that ever since the outbreak of war in Ukraine in 2022, the Global War Party has spared no effort to draw our country into this conflict as an active party and open a second front in Georgia. This was precisely the ‘window of opportunity’ that posed an existential threat to our nation and its people. The demand for Georgia to open a second front was swiftly followed by directives to join sanctions against Russia, a move calculated to orchestrate the collapse of the Georgian economy.
It was precisely because the Georgian government refused these demands, pursued a sovereign policy, and acted strictly in the state’s national interest that our country became the target of a European bureaucracy and Western leaders acting as puppets for informal oligarchic forces. In this process, various nations unequivocally controlled by the Deep State, including the previous US administration under Biden, activated every available mechanism of pressure: they slapped sanctions on senior officials of the Georgian government, the Honorary Chairman of the ruling party, Mr Bidzina Ivanishvili, Georgian judges, high-ranking police officers, private individuals, and others. Furthermore, they weaponised Georgia’s declared ambition to achieve full EU membership to exert influence on the government.
When even this failed to deliver their desired outcome, because the ruling party, backed by the unwavering support of the Georgian people, refused to submit, they began attempting to drag Georgia into fresh provocations using their local agents. This represents a qualitatively new phase in the assault mounted against Georgia, the Georgian people, and its national sovereignty, unfolding synchronously across multiple fronts. Informing the public about this new phase of the offensive launched against our country is my precise aim today,” Kobakhidze stated.
