Georgia's involvement in Afghan evacuation to be paramount, PM says
The US reiterates its thanks to Georgia for its support in evacuating American citizens, Afghans, and third-country nationals from Afghanistan en route to their final destinations, US Embassy in Georgia stated on Friday.
“These efforts again highlighted the US-Georgian partnership, as well as Georgia’s leadership, crisis management, and humanitarian concern,” the statement read.
Prime Minister Irakli Garibashvili claims Georgia is “glad that our European and American leaders recognize this with great gratitude.” PM says the country has been involved in the Afghan mission for years, and “our involvement in the evacuation was paramount.”
Garibashvili vows Georgia is “a responsible actor, a partner of the United States and Europe.”
“We heard the US statement that Georgia acted very promptly during the evacuation process from Afghanistan; We set up the evacuation center briskly and managed this process rightly and swiftly,” Garibashvili added.
