Georgia's Foreign Minister meets UN High Commissioner for Refugees

During the high-level segment of the 61st session of the UN Human Rights Council, Georgian Foreign Minister Maka Botchorishvili held a meeting with Barham Ahmed Salih, United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees.

According to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Minister congratulated Mr Salih on his appointment as High Commissioner. The discussions focused on the ongoing cooperation between Georgia and the UNHCR.

Special attention was given to the human rights and humanitarian challenges in the occupied regions. The Georgian side highlighted the UNHCR’s involvement in international negotiations in Geneva.

The High Commissioner expressed positive appreciation for the support provided to Ukrainian refugees in Georgia and extended his gratitude to the Georgian authorities.
