Georgia’s Foreign Minister Maka Botchorishvili has met with Ivana Zivkovic, Assistant Secretary-General, Assistant Administrator and Director, Regional Bureau for Europe and the Commonwealth of Independent States of the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP).
According to the Foreign Ministry’s press service, the meeting reviewed the 30-year close partnership between the Georgian government and UNDP, along with key areas of cooperation. Particular attention was paid to UNDP’s efforts to promote sustainable development in the country.
“The discussion touched on the country’s role in the region, the potential of the ‘Middle Corridor’ and its growing importance. In this context, the significance of UNDP’s involvement in supporting economic and infrastructure development in Georgia was noted,” the Foreign Ministry said in a statement.
The talks also addressed the dire humanitarian situation in Georgia’s regions occupied by Russia, according to the ministry.
The UNDP representative is holding meetings with Georgian sectoral agency officials during her visit to the country.
