Georgian Railways: No talk of resuming rail link with Russia
Georgian Railways has stated that there is no discussion underway regarding the resumption of rail traffic between Russia and Georgia.
It is known that Russian media circulated a statement by Russian Vice Prime Minister Alexei Overchuk, in which he mentioned that “work is underway to unblock all damaged routes in the Caucasus, including the possibility of restoring the railway between the Russian Federation and Georgia via Abkhazia.”
However, Georgian Railways asserts that it remains unclear why this issue has been brought to the fore.
“Georgian Railways is not contemplating the resumption of rail traffic between Russia and Georgia, and therefore, it is entirely unclear to us why this matter has been placed on the agenda,” they said.
