Georgian President Mikheil Kavelashvili met with the Chairperson of Mejlis of Turkmenistan, Dünýägözel Gulmanowa.
According to the Presidential Administration, prospects to further deepen political, economic, cultural-educational relations and bilateral cooperation were reviewed during the meeting held at the Presidential Palace. The sides remarked that high-level visits contribute to the intensification of comprehensive cooperation.
The Georgian President thanked Turkmenistan for its support of Georgia’s sovereignty and territorial integrity. He emphasized that the new geopolitical reality significantly boosted the significance of the Middle Corridor and that Georgia was doing its best to contribute to its development, security and effective operation.
The President stated that Georgia welcomes Turkmenistan’s active efforts to ensure peace in Central Asia, noting that Turkmenistan’s peace policy in the region was identical to the policy which Georgia pursued in the South Caucasus.
