Georgian President joins protest - 'Resistance will not end until we achieve new elections'

Georgian President Salome Zourabishvili joined the protest on Rustaveli Avenue, arriving after holding consultations at the Orbeliani Palace with diplomatic corps representatives and opposition leaders.

“I am here, standing with these people, and I will be where I can,” she declared. “A resistance begins that will not end until we achieve new elections. This is the goal—internally and externally—to gain full support. We must not surrender. This is resistance.”

Later, the President approached law enforcement officers and addressed them directly: “I want to know who you serve and why, for how many [Georgian] Laris you serve another country. How can you not think about your country? Care about Georgia’s future.”

Earlier today, the government announced “not to place the issue of opening accession negotiations with the EU on the agenda until the end of 2028.”
