Georgian PM thanks Chinese President for recognizing merits of Shota Rustaveli

Georgian Prime Minister Irakli Garibashvili thanked Chinese President Xi Jinping, and the representatives of Beijing Language and Culture University, for recognizing the merits of Shota Rustaveli [Georgian poet, author of Vepkhvistkaosani (The Knight in the Panther’s Skin,] in world literature.

In his speech at the opening ceremony of Shota Rustaveli’s bust at Beijing Language and Culture University, the head of the government went on to say that “the commitment to the idea of cultural exchange, sharing of knowledge, and promotion of friendship between Georgia and China was anew confirmed today.”

“This occasion confirms the deepening of cultural and educational ties between our two nations and honors the rich literary heritage of both Georgia and China.

During our visit, we are pleased to sign a significant educational document – a memorandum of understanding on Chinese language teaching in Georgia’s elementary and secondary schools.

I believe this will make a significant contribution to our goal of deepening mutual understanding between our nations,” the Prime Minister said.
