Irakli Garibashvili, Prime Minister of Georgia met Abdulla Shahid, President of the 76th Session of the United Nations General Assembly (UNGA 76) today.
Dignitaries discussed the active topics of cooperation between Georgia and the United Nations within the UN General Assembly.
The focus was made on the current situation witnessed in the occupied regions of Georgia and the significant role of the UN in the peaceful resolution of the conflict. The Prime Minister expressed his gratitude to the President of UNGA76 for the solid support of the sovereignty and territorial integrity of Georgia.
The focus was made on peace and security, human rights, sustainable development and gender equality.
The meeting held at the Government Administration was attended by Kemlin Furley, Acting UN Resident Coordinator and Representative of the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR) in Georgia; Fernando Anders Marani, Deputy Chef de Cabinet for the President of UNGA76; Inga Kanchaveli, Deputy Team Leader on Reforms, Legal and Fiscal Matters; attendees from the Georgian side included Ilia Darchiashvili, Minister of Foreign Affairs of Georgia and Revaz Javelidze, Head of Government Administration.
