Georgian PM meets German Chancellor

Prime Minister Irakli Gharibashvili met German Chancellor Olaf Scholz within the framework of the Munich Security Conference.

At the meeting, the parties noted the close partnership and friendly relations between Georgia and Germany in various directions. Irakli Gharibashvili expressed hope that Germany will continue to support Georgia’s main foreign policy goals.

The PM provided Olaf Scholz with detailed information about the steps Georgia is taking to implement the recommendations of the European Commission.

The analytical report published by the European Commission on Georgia was also mentioned at the meeting, where the progress achieved by Georgia in terms of the compatibility of the national legislative base of Georgia with the European Union legislation was positively assessed.

The head of the government thanked the German chancellor for his strong support for Georgia’s sovereignty and territorial integrity, as well as for non-recognition policy.

It was mentioned that this year, in March, the host country of the Berlin World Tourism Festival – “ITB Berlin” is Georgia. The PM noted that the festival is not only an excellent way to increase the awareness of the country and attract more visitors, but it is also a way to further develop the tourism sector of Georgia on an international scale. He also invited Olaf Scholz to Georgia.
