Irakli Kobakhidze, Georgian Prime Minister, hosted Armida Salsiah Alisjahbana, Under-Secretary-General of the United Nations and Executive Secretary of the Economic and Social Commission for Asia and the Pacific (ESCAP).
According to the Government Administration, prolific cooperation with ESCAP and partnership intensification prospects were reviewed during the meeting, focusing on issues of the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development and the implementation of the Sustainable Development Goals.
“The meeting underscored Georgia’s strategic location and transit potential, noting that the Middle Corridor project would open up new trade and investment opportunities. Large-scale infrastructure projects, which serve to boost the country’s logistic capabilities and transit potential, were reviewed during the meeting,” the Government Administration reported.
Prime Minister Irakli Kobakhidze reflected on the meeting on the X Platform.
“Held a productive meeting with H.E. Armida Salsiah Alisjahbana, UN Under-Secretary-General & UNESCAP Executive Secretary. We discussed Georgia’s SDG progress, our partnership with UNESCAP and prospective areas of collaboration,” he posted.
Armida Salsiah Alisjahbana is visiting Georgia within the framework of the 5th Tbilisi Silk Road Forum. She will address the “Rewiring Global Trade” panel participants.
