Georgian FM met with OSCE Representative on Freedom of the Media within OSCE Ministerial Council

During the 32nd meeting of the OSCE Ministerial Council, Georgian Foreign Minister Maka Botchorishvili held discussions with Jan Braathu, the OSCE Representative on Freedom of the Media.

According to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the discussions focused on the challenges related to media freedom and independence confronting the OSCE region.

The Minister highlighted the issue of deliberate disinformation campaigns targeting Georgia, aimed at undermining the country’s stability, and underscored the important role of the OSCE Representative on Freedom of the Media in addressing such threats.

Maka Botchorishvili reaffirmed that safeguarding freedom of expression and maintaining a free, pluralistic media environment are among the Georgian government’s top priorities, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs stated.

The ministry also noted that the Minister emphasised Georgia’s longstanding and fruitful cooperation with the OSCE Representative on Freedom of the Media, expressing hope for continued close collaboration in the future.
