Georgian Finance Minister meets French Business Association MEDEF
Minister of Finance Lasha Khutsishvili met with a delegation of French enterprises, which is visiting Georgia under the leadership of France’s largest business association (MEDEF), the Ministry of Finance reported.
According to them, the parties discussed issues of cooperation between the two countries. The Minister of Finance introduced the guests to the country’s macroeconomic and fiscal parameters and medium-term forecasts.
“The Minister introduced the French side to the existing investment policy, ongoing and planned large infrastructure projects and reforms, taking into account the government’s debt management strategy, in the context of high economic growth. The sources and instruments of sovereign investment financing from multilateral and bilateral partners were also highlighted, taking into account the government’s debt management strategy. The discussion touched on the successful placement of Eurobonds refinancing by the government on the London Stock Exchange.
As the Minister noted, Georgia has been able to maintain high economic growth in the context of high economic growth, prudent fiscal and monetary policies, which, against the backdrop of high capital expenditures and the implementation of significant investment projects, will contribute to the country’s further progress.
The meeting focused on transit/energy projects of regional importance in which Georgia is involved, including the Middle Corridor connectivity, ongoing and planned road, railway and port projects in the direction of Georgia.
The guests expressed interest in both ongoing initiatives in general and readiness for cooperation in specific new projects, as well as the desire to further develop French-Georgian economic opportunities.
