Georgian embassy in U.S. hosts representatives of Georgian diaspora
The Georgian Embassy in the United States has hosted a gathering of representatives from the Georgian diaspora, the Embassy has announced.
According to official reports, as part of the event, Georgia’s Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary to the USA, Tamar Taliashvili, held a meeting with Bishop Saba Intskirveli of the Georgian Diocese in North America, Dean Pavle Zakaria, rector of the Holy Virtuous Queen Tamar Georgian Parish in Washington, as well as representatives from the Holy Hieromartyr Grigol Peradze Georgian Cultural Centre and the diaspora community in Philadelphia.
“During the meeting, discussions centred on the importance of strengthening Georgian-American relations and deepening cultural ties, alongside the vital role of the Georgian Orthodox Church. It was also noted that in 2026, Georgia will mark 1,700 years since Christianity was declared the state religion.
In this spirit, the Embassy contributed to a charity campaign supporting the Diocese of North America’s initiative to build a Georgian church in Washington. The Ambassador also presented symbolic gifts to the priests of the Diocese and to representatives of the Cultural Centre,” the Embassy stated.
